Beach trip XI - Destination Destin
Traditions come in many forms. One of my favorite traditions happens to come with sand and sunsets. Every year, my best friend and I go on a beach adventure with my sister and my best friend's awesome grandmother.
This has gone on for the last eleven years. At first, we explored the Outer Banks - visiting Fort Macon, Emerald Isle, Oak Island, and Okracoke Island. We had our fun at Pleasure Island for a couple of years before we ventured south to Charleston, S.C. where we stayed for many Summers in a row. This year, we went the furthest south that we've ever been - Florida.
Destin was our destination (though we actually stayed a little north of Destin in Fort Walton Beach). I have never seen white sand or been in an ocean where you can see the fish nibbling at your toes. It was breathtaking!
Sadly, my sister wasn't able to make the trip because she had massage therapy classes she couldn't miss, so Kalie's grandma made "Sarah on a Stick" or S.O.S. for short. She had a selfie stick and a printed picture of my sister in a bag attached to it. That way we could take photos with her at the beach and let her enjoy the posts on Instagram with our hashtag (Paloma, Kalie, Grammy, Sarah on a stick 11) #PKGSOSXI.
