Plenty of Sunshine Coming My Way - Spring Break Recap
Happy spring everyone! This week started out a beautiful, sunny, 70 degrees where I am followed by a bit of rain - but the weekend looks like that lovely spring weather I adore! And what better way to kick off spring on my blog than to tell you all about my spring break trip to Disney World last week!
I have been wanting to go back to Disney since my first trip back in 2011. So many new characters and rides had been added since then including Belle's castle & Ariel's grotto in Fantasyland and I wanted to do it all! My boyfriend and I started planning and saving for our trip back in October of last year. We wanted to stay on property since neither one of us had before and I knew that Disney always does a late winter sale which offers a significant discount on nightly rates! After booking the room and flights in December, we did some serious saving from then until March for food and souvenirs.
Finally the big day arrived anddddd our flight was delayed. Luckily we made our next flight literally minutes before they closed the doors and then boarded Disney's Magical Express. Next stop, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa!! We settled in and headed straight to Epcot. The next few days were filled with rides, rides, and more rides. Saturday night (the night of the time change where we would lose an hour of sleep), the Magic Kingdom had extra magic hours until 2am....so we stayed until 2am! It was great being in the almost-deserted park and waiting 5 minutes for every ride. We even danced in front of the castle to the closing music because we are total dorks.
Tuesday we had planned a big day. We were going to go to Hollywood studios and Epcot before our big dinner at Disney's Victoria and Albert's. Of course I had to wake up with a sore throat which changed our plans a bit. We went to Animal Kingdom just to ride Everest (we rode it twice!) and then came back to the hotel to soak up some sun by the pool with some margaritas before our dinner reservations that night.
Victoria and Alberts is the most incredible dining experience I've ever had. We had two servers that happened to be a married couple who were also in training to be sommeliers. The meal consisted of 7 indulgent courses paired perfectly with wine. We were both so full after but decided to change and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our hotel to end the night.
That night I woke up with chills and a fever but I was determined to make it through our last day. So Wednesday morning I got up like a champ for our breakfast in Cinderella's castle with all of the princesses. We were the only couple there without kids but who cares? Everyone's a kid at Disney right?
We had a few hiccups during our trip like me losing my license in Animal Kingdom and both of us leaving our debit cards in the safe at the hotel (and not realizing until we were at the airport). But overall, it was seriously a magical trip!
A week back into the real world and I am missing Florida more than anything. But there's only a month left until my student showcase, so I am going all in on portfolio updates and projects. So be ready to see plenty of my work updated on my portfolio page! And look forward to my next post which is a review of Le Tote - a clothing subscription service I've been using for a couple of months that is really neat.
Hope you all have a happy Friday and an awesome weekend! I'm leaving you with more pictures below of the trip, Enjoy!
